The City of Maquoketa has declared a snow emergency to aid our snow removal efforts.  The snow emergency will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 11th and will last until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13th.  All cars parked along City snow routes must be relocated immediately or face the possibility of being towed.  All property owners in the Central Business District are reminded to shovel their sidewalks by noon the next day after the snowfall ceases, or the City will shovel the sidewalk and all associated costs and fines will be assessed to the property owner.

The City is also requesting the removal of parked cars from unplowed streets to assist the public works crews in plowing the streets.

Depending on the possible heavy drifting of snow resulting from the forecast of wind and snow tomorrow, Tuesday, February 12th, there is a good chance that 17th Street along with Timber Drive and Timber Court will not be plowed after 6:00 p.m. tomorrow evening, Tuesday, February 12th for safety reasons.  We will be back out at daybreak Wednesday morning February 13th to open it up.

The City of Maquoketa is interested in receiving quotes for the purchase of trees to be planted in our city parks in April 2019.  For more complete quote information, please contact City Hall, 201 East Pleasant Street, Maquoketa, IA 52060 or call 563-652-2484.  Sealed quotes for this shall be due by 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 and should be mailed or dropped off at City Hall in sealed envelopes that are marked “Community Tree Planting Quotes”.  The City reserves the right to reject all bids, waive informalities and make a decision that best suits the interests of the citizens of Maquoketa.


Horseshoe Pond Park and Campground closed for the 2018 camping season on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.


The City of Maquoketa is now accepting applications for Horseshoe Pond Camp Host for the 2019 camping season. The camp host site has electric, water and sewer service. Applications are available at Maquoketa City Hall and must be received by 11:00 a.m. March 22, 2019. For more information, contact City Hall at 563-652-2484.

Single Family Housing Repair Loans and Grants in Iowa – streamlined


As part of the new metering system that was installed, the City of Maquoketa and MMEU are now able to offer our customers access to a consumer portal.

The consumer portal is a place where customers can access their water and electric accounts and history through a web based portal. Customers will be able to review their consumption, utility bill costs and set and track a budget for utility costs. Additionally, customers will be able to set their account up so they get email alerts when they exceed their budget, a certain amount of usage or when a small or large leak is detected.
